Privacy
Coban is built so your work stays on your machine. This page says exactly what leaves it.
The desktop app
Coban's local service listens on 127.0.0.1 only and keeps projects, threads, tasks, diffs, test runs and memory in a database on your Mac. Secrets are kept in the macOS keychain. The agents you run talk to their own providers under your own sign-in, as they would without Coban.
The app makes two calls to getcoban.com, and neither carries anything about your projects, files or prompts.
- The license check, when you activate a key, every time Coban opens and once a day. It sends the key's license id, a random id for this installation and the app version, plus, when you paste a key, that this is an activation. Because the check carries that installation id, your account records each device and when it was last seen: that is how a Mac appears on your account page and how removing it there locks it at its next check.
- The update check, which asks whether a newer version exists for your Mac's platform and processor. Like any web request it reaches the site from your network address.
